In their free time, children in Britain like playing and watching sports such as football, tennis, cricket and netball. Netball is a popular game among girls at school. Football is the sport that British people most enjoy watching on TV. There is a football team in every town and families usually go to the stadium to watch their team play on Saturdays.

They also enjoy watching teenage programmes and films on television, playing computer games, cycling and skateboarding. Cinema is also very popular in Britain. Many children learn to play a musical instrument at a young age, and many start a band in their teens. Music in England is part of everyday life!

Families enjoy going sightseeing at the weekends and during the school holidays. There are many stately homes (mansions where rich people lived in the past), museums, beaches and beautiful parts of the countryside to visit.
