El verbo can es especial. Pertenece a un grupo de verbos que se llaman "verbos modales". No necesita el verbo auxiliar do para hacer negaciones o preguntas. Tampoco lleva la -s de la 3ª persona singular del presente simple. Le sigue siempre un verbo en forma base (infinitivo sin to)
Para negar, sólo añadimos la partícula negativa not, y normalmente se contrae con can.
Para preguntar se cambia el orden del sujeto y can, colocando éste en primer lugar.
Para responder a las preguntas hechas con Can...? brevemente, colocamos can/can't detrás del sujeto, pero nunca aparece el verbo principal (play)
Example: Can you play the guitar? Yes, I can. (¿Sabes tocar la guitarra? Sí.)
USOS:Para expresar una habilidad o capacidad (saber o poder hacer algo)
Example: Can you drive a car? No, I can't.
